As of what I’ve heard, this one is better than the first. But who knows? All I want is to read the next book in the series. Sometimes that’s enough, right? Review: Cameron Pierce was just newly assigned to the Halfway House that Matt and Julian had built together in book one. We caught a little glimpse of Cameron from the first book, it wasn’t a lot but it was enough to capture our interest and spark our curiosity. Cameron was obviously wrongly judged for something he was innocent of and in the end was given a ten year prison penalty for it. It was harsh and brutal and that’s why we want to know what the hell really happened to him to receive that kind of treatment. It wasn’t explained immediately throughout the book but it gradually came to light with the help of Hunter Donovan. While Cameron stays at the halfway house, he was given quickly a job at the diner where coincidently, our assistant state attorney goes by every lunch break to get his hands on the tastiest cookies ever made. The shop owners were two elderly couple who loves nothing more than to see their new employee get acquainted with the job and in society in general. Cameron was thankful of course, he needed the job, he needed something normal to ground him down to reality. Being out of prison can get a man spiked up in anxiety and the pressure. Reader’s hearts will melt for Cameron, I just know it. I mean, come one, just the name can make you swoon. From book one, we knew something was wrong with how Cameron’s prison sentence was processed and executed. Just that thought made us curious and excited to see what happened in Cameron’s past, what where the events that led to these circumstances and this book definitely delivered the answers to that in ten folds. The readers will go on the journey of finding out what happened alongside Hunter who loves nothing more than to help Cameron out. What started out as a simple crush on the guy led to a relationship where Cameron needed to reveal dark revelations from his past that he’d rather left unsaid. Good thing Hunter wasn’t the type of person who judges easily. Truthfully, the first book was good but this was even better, so much better. It had a better storyline in terms of suspense and drama. And despite this also being a romantic book, the action and the thrill that this book provided was done well, though this was a long read, the long read was actually needed to keep the story going. And believe me, you will read this to the end. This book will get you anxious for the truth of what happened together with Hunter and everyone else involved. I loved it, ergo you should love it too. Plus, badass Hunter is badass. Just needed to say that. |
