Title: A Restored Man (The Men of Halfway House #3) Main Characters: Cole Renzo and Ty Calloway Author: Jaime Reese Genre: Contemporary Romance Length: 385 pages Publisher: Romandeavor Date of Publication: February 17th 2015 Story: Cole Renzo thinks his greatest challenge is to behave for the remainder of his term at Halfway House. Until he meets his new boss, Ty Calloway, a man who ticks off every box on Cole’s list of interests. A sought-after restorer and customizer of exotic and collectible cars, Ty had enough confidence to command what he wanted in life, until one fateful night changed everything. Almost two years later, he’s slowly rebuilding his life with great control. He’s defied the odds and works tirelessly to be the man he once was—but he still feels broken. Cole’s candor and unfiltered personality awaken Ty’s barely-remembered desire to greet each new day with a smile, while Ty’s unwavering acceptance of Cole’s quirks and brash humor makes Cole feel as if he fits in for the first time in far too long. When a nemesis threatens Ty’s personal restoration and the things he holds dear, Cole is determined to protect their relationship, even if that means sacrificing everything he’s worked so hard to achieve. But Ty will have to let his guard down, surrender control, and admit he needs Cole first, even if that puts himself at risk of breaking beyond repair. Me and this book: And I gotta say, this was by far the best book out of the three. This book ticked all my interests and kept hitting them up to the last page, that was how good it was. And I’m not going to lie, Cole was the one who really stood out for me in this book, I got enraptured by the way he was presented and everything that I couldn’t bear to actually be physically separated from this book. Seriously. Review: Cole Renzo was just another guy assigned at the Halfway House Matt and Julian had built. Back in book two, Cole was introduced as this new quirky guy with a beanie forever on his head who has a thing about fast cars. In fact, the reason why he was in jail in the first place was because he got caught stealing a very expensive car. From there we were given a vision of Cole as this happy-go-lucky person who loved to make people angry on purpose but what we didn’t know was how totally different Cole really was. After the events from the second book, Cole was given a contract to a car that Hunter Donovan left behind. All he had to do was to not get fired and be good at this job for the next six months and the car was his. That was enough motivation to get Cole to focus, at least to the best of his abilities. See, Cole here has a too active brain that most of the time he can’t control the things that would come out of his mouth, he couldn’t filter them. Though he didn’t mean it, people misinterpret him. What they didn’t know was how much Cole struggled to get the right words out and how much he got hurt too when things go wrong because of him. But don’t let that fool you, Cole has this big unfiltered personality that proved he’s not someone who backs out of any problem, whether he started it or not. He just wanted nothing more than to be good, to not make a mess and to just do the right thing this time. And then here comes Ty Calloway, Ty owned the place where Cole would spend his days working on exotic and high class cars. Oh and he’s also Adrian’s brother which both sparked Cole’s curiosity and terrified him at the same time. Ty wasn’t your typical boss either, he had his own problems, his own dark past that he’d rather forget. He would rarely talk openly with others anymore ever since the tragic accident that happened two years ago, which was why Adrian was so protective of him. He doesn’t even laugh no more. Well, until he met Cole, of course. This was such an epic story that I’m not going to say more about the details that happened, not even the general ones. I went through this not knowing about the whole story and I came out fine and surprised. Surprised at how this book managed to capture my heart in every single chapter. Cole was such a character that I found myself sad when he’s sad and happy when he’s happy. Cole can do that to you, I promise you that. And I’m sure the readers wouldn’t mind the long length of it as well. Yes, this book was like the second one where there were a lot of things going on one after the other but for me, they were all necessary for the buildup of both MCs. Some say it was way too long but I didn’t really mind it at all. Though this book wasn’t as angsty as the others, it had its own share of dramatic moments that will definitely leave the readers weak to the bone. Scenes here and there will grip people’s hearts while some scenes will put grins on their faces. Plus, the relationship between the two characters was so entertaining to watch. I loved how Cole brought out the playful and flirty Ty out of his shell, those scenes were golden. Maybe that’s what will really draw the readers in, this book was full of great dialogues that I lost count, we can thank Cole for that. Cole’s character was just seriously amazingly done. I love you too Ty but Cole won my heart by a landslide. You guys should grab this book now or better yet, grab the whole series because it just keeps getting better and better. Please give as more Jaime Reese! |
