Title: The Demon You Know (Unnamed London PNR Series #3) Author: Barbara Elsborg Main Characters: Ezra & Roman Genre: Romance & Supernatural (Warning: Non-Con/Dub-Con) Length: 233 pages Publisher: Loose Id LLC Date of Publication: April 28th 2015 Story: A good demon? Ezra is a timekeeper in Hell, responsible for building and maintaining the clocks that tick away eternal torment. He’s never believed he deserves to be in Hell, and when the reason he’s there is revealed, he’s horrified...yet filled with hope. But is this just another form of torture? When Ezra’s given a chance to go to the surface, he’s determined to uncover the truth, but his fellow demons seem just as determined he won’t survive the journey. A bad angel? Roman doesn’t understand why an angel who failed his training the first time round has been given the job of policing paranormals in the UK’s capital city. He’s consumed by unhappiness. He might not be in Hell, but sometimes it damn well feels like it. When Roman meets Ezra his failings come back to haunt him. Ezra makes him want to break the rules, but an angel protecting a demon? Discovery would bring an eternity of suffering, and with a boss none other than the archangel Michael, it'll take more than a miracle for the lovers to stand together. Me and this book: I LOVE THIS. I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT. Review: A good demon, a bad angel, the perfect description for this magnificent work of written art. Ezra, the good demon. Right off the bat, everyone can tell that Ezra was demon. Being the only one born from hell, Ezra’s life had been difficult from the start. Being different wasn’t a good thing, he was treated like a novelty being passed around from one higher positioned demon to another. With no physical strength to fight for himself, Ezra couldn’t do anything but do what he was told. The only thing he longed for was a touch of kindness from someone who can love him. Given the chance to go to the surface with a few others, it was only chance to get away from the heat and terror in hell, his only chance to run away and pray that they wouldn’t find him and drag him down again. Roman, the bad angel. Stuck on a job he never wanted, Roman just wasn’t feeling that he’s doing the right thing. Stuck with dealing with the unruly types of supernaturals, Roman spends his day judging supernaturals by either giving them a second chance or ending it. But what he really wanted to was to be himself and to let go. He can’t do that with Archangel Michael breathing down his neck and with the sudden appearance of his somewhat ex boyfriend, Daniel, everything just seemed to fall apart for him. And not to mention that he has to capture these demons that climbed up to the surface to suck people’s energy, things got bad to worse. But what was Roman to do but to follow orders? This book was a complete journey from start to finish. Told in both points of view, I found myself longing and wanting to know more on the story of both main characters and that seldom happens to me. Maybe it’s because they were just so different from each other but both so keen in wanting more from life. Both were torn in their own way, it was amazing to see them find each other and let alone fall in love in the end especially with all the issues occurring around them. Though both of the main leads weren’t even introduced to each other from about almost half of the book and I didn’t mind it at all. Usually that would bag me but it didn’t. The entire beginning was definitely necessary to make the events in the middle to the end absolutely believable. The wonder of how the author pieced together each and every scene was amazing, it was like watching an entire movie inside my head, every detail was exact and on point. In the end, I absolutely loved it. My supernatural heart was satisfied with this book that I hope there’s another book in the series that will focus again on Ezra and Ramon. I just can’t get enough of those too, sweet and caring Ezra and the brave and warm Ramon. I ended up both squealing and crying every other chapter, it was an amazing experience for a reader. But do keep in mind that this book does have its own concept of heaven and hell, angels and demons, the God and the devil, so just keep an open mind in reading and everything will be good to go. |
