Title: Beauty And The Bookworm Main Characters: Mason Leery & Shane Beaumont Author: Nick Pageant Genre: Contemporary Romance Length: 107 pages Publisher: Pageantry Books Date of Publication: May 6th 2014 Story: Mason Leery is a bookworm and he thinks he might just be able to get through life simply by reading about it instead of living it. Until he meets Shane Beaumont. Shane is the opposite of Mason in every way, he's beautiful, athletic, and lives his life to the fullest. Sparks fly when the polar opposites come together, but it will be up to the bookworm to shut down his e-reader and go after the beauty if he wants to love someone outside the pages of a book. Me and this book: I confess, the plot intrigued me. It was like one of those fanfiction that I love reading. A bookworm and a muscled personal trainer? That alone was enough for me to get this book and read it in one go. Review: This whole world creation revolved around the quirky mind of Mason Leery, a bookworm. A bookworm by definitions is ‘a person devoted to reading’ and that was exactly what Mason was. He spends his days and nights reading one book after another in his trusty e-reader magic device. So much in fact that his lesbian grandmother has had enough of him just lazy-ing around on his bed all day reading that she threatened him to get out and breath some fresh air. With that kind of a grandma, Mason obeyed and ended up sitting in a lone bench at the part, of course with his kindle still at hand though. And while shamelessly reading through the lovely stories of his M/M books, he suddenly met Shane Beaumont in a rather revealing way /winks/ that both of them would never ever forget. The day after that incident, Mason’s thoughts seemed to keep focusing back to that jock-ish guy who runs at the park. This story was both sweet, funny as hell and satisfying at the same time. Not only were the MCs both the opposites of each other, they were both sweet little idiots as well. You’ll see why when you read it. The way the author had managed to write the story was refreshing and I’m not gonna lie, there were a lot of lines in there that will make you laugh out loud, literally. Despite it being so enjoyable, there were also parts that will take on a serious turn at the second half of the book that would eventually make a few problems in Mason and Shane’s relationship. This is such a light read that I recommend this to anyone who needs a break from reading those angsty or any lengthy M/M books for that matter. Come on, we all need a break once in a while and this special little book will make it worth your while. |
