But his desire for Justin makes him want to lose that control—and push them both far beyond their limits. But will his need to dominate Justin drive him away—or will Eli find a way to be the man he needs for both of them? Me and this book: The first book of the series was amazing but this, this was beyond awesome. Review: This story took place after the events on book one, so I suggest people to read that first to get to know more about the secondary characters in this story. Even though this can be read as a standalone, I still recommend it. Because even when I was reading through this, I had to backtrack to book 1 to remember who’s who because it’s been quite a while since I’ve read it. Okay? Okay. Justin White was working as a barista at Ground N’at, coffee place directly beneath the offices for S.R. Anderson Consulting. He wasn’t a typical part time working student, Justin was smart to the point that he was personally chosen to be mentored by one of the best advisers in CMU. But he wanted more experience and a more satisfying job, so that’s why he took the golden opportunity to submit his resume when he found out that Sam Anderson was looking for an office assistant. Justin knew he had the wits to get the job, he can ace the interview in no time but the only problem was Sam’s CFO, Eli Ovadia. Eli worked alongside Sam as his right hand man handling finances and everything he was given in precise detail. Despite having a limp from an accident years ago and using a cane for every day work, Eli portrays a man of dominance and power. And even Justin’s fuzzy personality was no match for Eli’s. These two characters played a game of cat and mouse, with their constant sexual teasing and tension that was sometimes too much for Sam who couldn’t help but be witness to it all. And when Justin indeed got the job he was hoping for, they continued even further on their banter but despite that, they always found themselves getting more and more of what they needed from each other. The turning point was when they found themselves at the BDSM place totally unaware that the other was into the scene, it was the only confirmation they needed. From then on, they couldn’t keep their hands from each other. Justin’s need to submit matched Eli’s need to take control. Every scene that they had with each other, from the first to the last was proof of how in sync and perfect they were together. Despite the confusion and misunderstanding that came along the way causing them to partially drift apart, it was all worthwhile in the end and how they managed to get over the stump in their way was incredibly done. Truthfully, this was one of the best BDSM stories I’ve read in a long while. The BDSM visualization the author created was steamy and hot, just picturing Justin in those tight ropes got me all hot and bothered. It was also nice to see that Justin didn’t immediately turn into an obedient puppy, he was still the Justin with lots of attitude that we all loved and that Eli secretly loved as well. Eli with his limp didn’t really took the Dom image out of him either rather it made him more domineering with his cane and all. And speaking of cane, fuck, that cane scene was one of my personal favorite scenes in the book. Reading-wise, the third person point of view took a little while to get used to. Maybe it’s just me but sometimes I forgot to shift between the two that I ended up backtracking to get it right which was really frustrating for my part. And despite Justin being that typical character where he’s smart, not ashamed of who is he but has been scarred because of what happened to him in the past, he was created in a way that was unique and special and not annoying and predictable. With that being said, this ended up a roller coaster of emotion because we travelled from teasing and flitting glances to rough sex and angst, what amazed me even more was how well the author managed to pull it off. Though both Eli and Justin were broken somehow, each having their own demons, seeing how they pulled through from that was both satisfying and fulfilling. It was always a pleasure to read about a dom having problems as well as his sub. It made it more realistic and believable. |
