Title: Worth Waiting For (FIT Guys #1) Main Characters: Colby & Noah Author: Kim Dare Genre: Contemporary Romance & BDSM Length: 147 pages Publisher: Kim Dare Date of Publication: October 23rd 2013 Story: When Colby earned a swimming scholarship to the Falconer Institute of Training, he expected to spend all his time either training or studying, but that was before he looked out of his living room window and straight into the dance studio opposite. It’s taken Noah years, but he’s finally got his life in order. He teaches dance classes all day, hits the clubs every night and he’s not looking for complications—especially not in the form of overly-innocent swimmers who like to spy on him from across the street. The first time Colby approaches him, Noah has no trouble turning him away. It’s only when Colby returns years later, to collect on a casually delivered promise, that Noah finds himself incapable of keeping Colby locked out of his carefully re-constructed life. Their kinks may match up perfectly, but their lives and their pasts couldn’t be more different. Years have passed, but will what they have together turn out to be worth waiting for? Me and this book: I personally think that this was one of the lighter themed books that Ms. Kim Dare have ever written or at least out of all the books of hers that I’ve read (so far). It was so different from the others that I didn’t know what to expect in the first place. It’s a good thing though, sometimes it’s better to not have expectations and be surprised as fuck while reading. And I can honestly say that’s what happened to me. I was totally blown away. Oh yeah, I would also like to express my thanks to Ms. Kim Dare for trusting me with a copy of this. I never expected to be in contact with any of my favorite authors, I just wanted to show my support on the sidelines with this book review blog that no one reads but to know that she’s that open to newbies like me, I really appreciated that. And if she doesn’t already know, I love her and her work so much. Review: This was simply too sweet in a sexy erotic way. Yup, Ms. Kim Dare had certainly succeeded in that department. The whole story was fresh, new and exciting that it will definitely keep the readers from putting it down. The beginning of the book starts off with bits and pieces of flashbacks from Colby’s life and it’s one of the sweetest parts of the book. From the get go we can immediately tell that Colby was one of those characters that people just can’t help but fall for, he’s just this perfect boy who’s openly gay, sweet, young and naive. He was fifteen at that time he first met Noah which ended rather different than what he wanted it to be, with a promise from Noah that they’ll get together once Colby turns legal. And oh boy, how Colby held on to that promise alright. Noah here, however, lives a little different life. Unlike Colby, Noah left home after his family rejected him for being gay and ever since then he had lived alone and eventually ended up teaching dance at his studio. Living alone was never easy for Noah, doing things that he wasn’t proud off and it gave him a perspective in life that wasn’t easy to change. Every now and then he goes out, to the club and comes home with a different man, that was his routine. And one fortunate night, he met young Colby. It goes on from there. We get to see how much Colby was fascinated about that sexy dancer from the other side of the street. Reading about him innocently stalking over Noah was something every person can related. It was like living through highschool with a crush on that boy/girl from another class, it was sweet and innocent. Colby’s emotions are always so plain to see and it wasn’t that hard to care for him more in the first part of the book. But Noah’s not that far behind though. Around halfway forth, the readers will get to see the true Noah, his inner thoughts and what kind of life he had to live up to that point, all his insecurities and his doubts. Eventually, Noah would have also found his way into the hearts of readers. This is not a long read and the interval between scenes can be a little too long for others but that's how it is and it works. Since this is a Kim Dare book, of course, there’s that bdsm concept somewhere in there but it’s on the minimal, nothing hardcore, but as equally erotic as her other books. Mostly basic stuff that first time readers in that genre can understand and even relate, something couples can do in the bedroom. Romance wise, it was amazing to read how the relationship of both Noah and Colby evolved from what it was in the beginning to how it turned out to be in the end. It wasn’t always smooth sailing for the two like they hoped for and they really needed to work things out with themselves to make it through. It was both emotional and exciting. I recommend this to anyone who’s interested in knowing how a little crush can grow into something big and permanent. It’s everyone’s fantasy at one point and this book proves that it can be done or at least it gives us hope that it will. |
